Google introduces NeRF 3D to Maps

Google has begun to roll out Immersive View, using advances in AI and computer vision to fuse billions of Street View and aerial images, to create a immersive, digital model of the world with local data layered on.

Immersive View combines 360 video with neural radiance fields (NeRF), an advanced AI technique, transforming ordinary pictures into fully 3D representations.

Immersive view is now available in London, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Tokyo with more cities coming soon.

At the same time, Live View uses AI and augmented reality, layering on info about, for example, opening times, ratings, and direction arrows for navigating through unfamiliar places like airports. Live View is now available in London, Los Angeles, New York, Paris, San Francisco and Tokyo, with more cities to follow.
